Bath Area Network for Artists (BANA)

The Bath Area Network for Artists (BANA) is an artist-led network of emerging and established artists committed to developing their professional practice through connecting their creativity. BANA's activity is coordinated by a voluntary management committee, and its work is led by four unpaid directors who are elected annually. Though supported by B&NES and the Arts Council at various times in the past, BANA is now proud to be financially and operationally self-sufficient, and free of the constraints that can come with reliance on grants from publicly-funded bodies.

BANA started in 1998 as an association of like-minded artists and since 2003 has been a private company limited by guarantee. BANA welcomes as members any artists working in the Bath area and the South West in general who are dedicated to developing their professional practice and who want to engage with other artists. If you are interested in BANA or wish to join, please contact us.

BANA is now working towards celebrating its 10th anniversary of becoming a limited company. During 2012, BANA members will be arranging a number of exhibitions around the theme of artists 'in practice', and is planning a special 10th anniversary event late in 2013 - to echo its 'in theory' exhibition of 2001, held in the former, demolished Churchill House (now the bus station), which was opened by the then director of the Tate Modern and attended by several hundred people.
