The FAB Art Fair 2008 gives you the rare opportunity to buy work direct from the best of local up-and-coming contemporary artists. With over 40 artists represented, this is an unmissable event. There will be sculptors, jewelers, print-makers, painters, designer-makers, ceramicists and photographers. If that wasn't enough, this year FAB is teaming-up with Bath Fringe's Bedlam street fair. There will be a relaxed Sunday vibe, with a bar provided by Gascoyne Place, a music stage, street performers, buskers and a visit from the South Central Portaspace portable gallery. The roads will be closed throughout the event, so it's great for the kids too! So, come along, meet the artists and maybe pick up a masterpiece!

Anne Farag make stunning silver etched jewellery. She trained at Birmingham school of jewellery. The skills and technics she learned there, are evident in the way she combines beautiful symmetry and asceticism of Art nouveau and Art Deco with some abstract elements, then she develops and enhances these by adding semi-precious stones. Anne aims to make contemporary jewellery that is both creative, and has a very distinctive feel. She is widely collected. Andrew Ullman
I attempt to visualise the language of modern post industrial landscapes by running the line between the real and insolent. I paint and print recognisable forms combined with abstract markings using vividly coloured and dark imagery from pop-culture, history,sci-fi,architecture, nature and music. The results are illusory images that suggest the familiar as well as the fantastic paralleling an appocolyptic vision of a globalised world and the chaos of our contemporary lives. Ashley Matthews and Sarah McCallum
Ashley makes ceramics, particlarly raku bowls. Sarah creates handcrafted contemporary Silver jewellery, taking inspiration from the sea and natural forms. Christine Close

Mo works best using oils on canvas. His style is can roughly be described as abstract expressionist but he broaches many more themes than this. Using dense build-ups of colour and texture, Mo tries to convey meaning and expression in the energy and the colour-placement of his paintings. Natasha Rampley
I make small scale fused glass artworks in box frames. They come in two sizes and are in quality thick wooden frames which are freestanding or can be hung. Most of the glass is reminiscent of landscape scenes although the actual glass is abstract in nature. Nigel Hill

Inspired by Japanese artwork of the 17th and 18th century, I am exploring the relationship between art, its surroundings and the emotions of the beholder. I'm trying to perceive nature through eyes of the Japanese artist not simply to mimic it. The balance of a line has a beginning and an end, bringing balance and harmony; drawing the onlooker into an enchanted more peaceful world. Victoria Petterson-Turner
My work is inspired by rugged landscapes and dramatic coastlines and is predominantly abstract. Improvisation and chance are key to the development of each work as well as making careful decisions in response to the painted canvas. I will be selling both framed works and canvases in oil, acrylic and mixed media. Yvonne Halton
I make slabbed, fairly quirky, ceramic pots, which are fun and functional. Coloured clay is rolled into the surface of slabs, which are then textured and assembled into a shape. They are washed with oxides and fired to 1170 degrees C in an electric kiln. |
