Curated by Anna Holsgrove and Tim Holsgrove

Nocturne is an immersive experience exploring the theme of the night. Incorporating soundscapes and visual work, Nocturne will produce an environment that allows the visitor to encounter the tension created by darkness, and the beauty that can emerge from contemplating the atmosphere of the night.

The exhibition will include work from the following artists:

Claire Davis

Claire is interested in creating abstract works based on gardens at night, with a focus on water, and realised through the use of a limited colour palette. She has more recently started to work with a bat sanctuary, and this has led to further developments in her work, and in her aims of capturing the atmosphere of the night.

Mark Parkinson

Mark's work focusses on childhood memories and a fascination with the half-light of the night, and the subtlety that comes when one studies the landscape through the darkness.

Susan Francis

Susan creates video, installation, and audio pieces. The work she will be exhibiting concerns the perception women have of the night, and the sound and soothing nature of a mother and child during the night.

Susan Richardson and Pat Gregory

This work combines the poetry of Susan Richardson with a print of Pat Gregory. This will be exhibited as a combined audio-visual piece, which will reflect the illogical and often hallucinatory quality of the mind when experiencing chronic insomnia.
