Bath's Annual Fringe Visual Arts Festival
FAB is Baths only visual arts festival, we actively promote and celebrate contemporary art in the Bath area and beyond, showcasing early career artists and curators, and those who find it difficult to break into (or prefer to operate outside of) the gallery based art scene.

Some more info and advice for potential applicants

Ride The Sky is an ongoing research, artistic and curatorial project that aims to redefine and challenge the meaning of masculinity, reject the ideas of traditional maleness as a protest at conventional gender roles and explore the apparent contradictions present in the idea of modern maleness.

These workshops/sharings will be a way to open the project up to other people, to share experiences and create a dialougue. To this end, participants will be invited to bring their own activity/sharing/thing into the group. Although my practice is based in Performance, anyone is welcome to apply regardless of background, gender indentity, race, or even if they are an artist or not.

As far as submissions go, it is pretty open ended. Maybe tell me about an issue you have with masculinity as it is, or how you feel about you're own. Tell me what activity or dicussion you would bring to the group.

Be prepared to be open to acting and reacting to what happens in the group.

If you'd like to have a look at what forms the project has taken so far and maybe get an idea of some of the things we may do, go to my website www.roberthardaker.com. There is a page for Ride the Sky, have a gander.

Ride the Sky

We will intensively work together over a week to explore our selves, our bodies and our thoughts engaging in group action and everyday opening up the space for a potential audience. We will create works which both contribute to and blur the lines of the myth of the modern male and extract meaning through an androgynous position.

Our actions will be joyous and a celebration of identity, a chance to reclaim ourselves. We will explore the feeling of weightlessness, ease in joyous action and the ideas of unknowing. We will be reborn and redefine masculinity for ourselves.

Together with artist Robert Hardaker participants will live together for the duration of the workshop which will culminate in a durational group action with participants and invited guests.

The workshops will include body intensive action.
