Universals

Universals explores the role of the photographer as collator. Each work exhibited sees the photographer use collections within their work, either formal, or informal, objective or subjective, they use this methodology to express their interests and ideas.
The photograph has become an essential part of the archival process. This show takes the traditional collection further, from photographs that exist as a document, to those that explore more metaphysical ideas.
The exhibition includes newly emerging artists alongside more established practitioners. There are several themes explored within the show, including work that explores vernacular details; artists who use collected objects in new ways and those that work with found photographs.
