A talk with artist Nicky Ruddick about her artistic practise and about her piece ‘How do I stem the waiting?’
Nicky Ruddick is a visual and conceptual artist based in North Devon. Her work combines research and feminist theory to interrogate the experiences of living in a female body, with a focus on beauty, ageing, ill-health and shame. Her conceptual approach seeks to bring private experiences into public view and to bring about new understanding.
In addition, Nicky works collaboratively and in a socially engaged way, particularly with vulnerable or underrepresented groups. She has completed projects with asylum seekers, bereaved families, neurodiverse young people and women struggling with ill health.
