Do you have an idea for an exhibition, performance, intervention or event? Tell us about it.

Send us your ideas. If you’re selected, we’ll help you make it happen.

Deadline: Sun 30th October 2022 at 23h59.

FaB is offering aspiring Curators the opportunity to devise and organise a show as part of the Fringe Arts Bath Festival programme, running 26th May to 11 June 2023.

We invite fresh and challenging concepts; FaB is a test-bed for new ideas, a platform for Curators and Artists to show experimental work beyond the gallery walls.

Anyone can propose a project, exhibition, performance or event, “You don’t have to have ‘Curator’ written on your business card to apply”. Any level of experience is welcome: students, graduates, artists, local, national, international.

FaB will support you with reaching artists, promotion, space - both online and physical, logistics and more.

Please be aware FaB cannot offer funding at this time, but can cover some expenses agreed in advance. We are a volunteer-run, non-profit registered company.

FaB Curators' shows can include:

Performance, intervention, installation, multi-media and video work, photography, drawing, painting, sculpture and all disciplines in between.

Curating a show for FaB is a great chance to gain experience in this competitive field, to realise your own exhibition or event, to make new contacts and network. In past years FaB has initiated exchanges between artists and curators from London, Brighton, Manchester, Swansea, Oxford, Bath, India, Hungary, Poland, Canada and beyond.

Get in touch and tell us about your idea:

Submit a proposal of approx. 500 words detailing the underpinning themes with supporting images and your CV. You can submit as a PDF, a Powerpoint, a video, an audio file, or by post. If another format suits you better, let us know.

The FaB committee will let you know which proposals they have selected (or not) during w/c 7th Nov 2022.

There will be a Curators’ meeting later that month for those selected to tell us more about their ideas and find out more about FaB. After this your show will be advertised in FaB's call out to artists in spring 2023.

FaB will offer you admin support, practical advice through regular meetings, mentoring from past Curators, exhibition space, advertising and more. You’ll need to promote your own call-out and exhibition, write some blog updates and post on social media, we’ll support you with this too.

FaB Festival attracts around 8,500 visitors each year, with up to 26 exhibitions and 60+ events housed in venues and around Bath's city streets.

Bath is located in the South West of England with good transport links, has a thriving art scene and plays host to many international festivals throughout the year; FaB is the only annual visual arts extravaganza!

We look forward to discovering your ideas and to working with you towards FaB Festival 2023.

Thanks, Team FaB.
