I am a Polish artist, currently working in Southampton. I work predominantly with painting and photography, responding to cultural atrophy by documenting architectural structures in transitional periods. Windows in these structures serve as a vehicle for these ideas, as they can frame a composition evocative of both an abstract painting and reflections of the world. I use formal strategies in my practice - from maintaining the natural colour of the canvas in painting, to using b&w film - to mark the temporal ambivalence of the scene. My works aim to suggest possibilities of a cultural frontier between an edge of civilisation and beginning of another.
