Informed by minimalism, Oliver Guyon investigates the contemporary relevance of a Venetian palette. With the application of traditional painting methods, his paintings are characterised by the chromatic intensity of natural colour.  Through the process of making paint, the artist gains insight into the varying behaviours of different colours, its inherent transparency or opaqueness, it’s viscosity or fluidity. Paintings are perceived as a record of this. Painted surfaces bridge the gap between artwork and wall, two-dimensional image and three-dimensional object.
