Nest
How can creative practice nurture wellbeing, inspire reflection, or aid recovery?
This exhibition will bring together artists exploring wellbeing, health, and the body through acts of making. It will create space for journeys of unearthing, nesting, holding, and the slow rebuilding of self.
Seeking works that:
Engage with experiences of mental and physical health, disability, illness, or recovery
Explore the body in its fragility, endurance, and capacity to heal
Seek to reduce stigma while fostering hope, reflection, and shared understanding
Incorporate environmentally conscious methods and materials
Seeking works in any medium; including photography, painting, printmaking, photobooks, film/video, sound, text/poetry, sculpture, ceramics, and installation.
Personal, abstract, and research-led responses are all welcomed.
The Curator would like to share these artworks as examples to illustrate their thinking:
Curated by Livvy Eden
Livvy Eden is a photographic artist based in Wiltshire. Her books and photographs mark an intuitive reflection of the places she inhabits and her understanding of 'home'. As she works through land and water, she looks inward, considering how places have continued to shape her and her familial relationships.
In recent works, Eden is navigating a benign brain tumour diagnosis, retracing her ongoing health issues and considering how it has intertwined with her approaches to image-making and consideration of self. Eden threads past and present, informing a search for truth, belonging and peace.
