Towards Abstraction presents a thought-provoking exploration of abstract photographic practice and experimental image-making.

The featured artists - Benedict Brain, Diana Henry, Fiona Humphreys, David Lewis-Baker, Shay Parsons, Mark Somerville, and Richard Young – bring together a wide range of approaches to abstraction. Working across techniques that include experimental processes, in-camera abstraction, and digital manipulation, they challenge traditional notions of photography as a purely representational medium. Their work invites viewers to engage with form, colour, texture, emotion and environment in new and unexpected ways
