FALLACIOUS MEMORY

FALLACIOUS MEMORY

The call-out to Artists:

“I remember freedom, I remember love. I remember how I wanted it to be.
But it wasn’t like that, my stories are made up, my memories are false”.

FALLACIOUS MEMORY will be the perfect place for artists to showcase work that explores, debates or tinkers with our conception of memory - but not just remembering in the conventional sense.

We would like you to delve deeper:

  • We want you to consider how we alter or pervert our memories and why.

  • Explore if memories are the sole preserve of the cognitive mind:
    what else remembers’?

  • Consider if memories are only linked with the past:
can they reach into the future or linger in the present?

We would love submissions from all forms of artist practice and from artists at any stage in their career. We are particularly interested in the works of local and international artists who operate on the edge of conventional artist practice. FALLACIOUS MEMORY will create a dynamic environment with a tantalising mix of media.

Curated by AkiaArt & David Block

AkiaArt lives and works in Bath. She is interested in the phenomenology of space and the spiritual residue we shed as we move through time and place. Her work flits between different disciplines and is always challenging and sincere. akiaarts.co.uk

David Block is a multi-faceted artist based in Paris. His artistic mission is “to put the sound into the visual arts”. He works in the domains of sound, video and dance combined with the plastic arts. His music is “an intriguing electronica soundscape, an aural feast that entrances as much as the dance”. davidblock.fr www.akiaarts.co.uk

Together, this dynamic duo will create a vibrant exhibition, celebrating and promoting the artists’ work.
