Going against the grain of constant shitty slog, we offered playful permission to rest; and invited contributors to embrace their lazy slutness by grabbing a pillow case or cushion cover and stitching a response to the theme of REST.

A nap, doze, siesta, catnap, snooze, kip, slumber, forty winks, shut-eye: Are you getting enough? Judging by the responses, it would appear not.

PILLOWTALK was an OPEN CALL for everyone everywhere to join in. The call-out began in collaboration of POW Thanet, and continuing to grow as it comes to Bath, giving more contributors a chance to view the project in person.

Working with POW we embraced the idea of unapologetic rest, of the thought of radical rest and a declaration of self worth - all embroidered on a hundred pillowcases.

Curated by Profanity Embroidery Group

We are the Profanity Embroidery Group, and we do exactly as it says on the tin – we embroider profanities. Some people think we are besmirching the gentle art of needlecraft with our puerile potty mouths – we know this ‘cos they like to tell us so. Kathy Burke said we were like a Punk version of the WI, and we are rather proud of that description.
Based in Whitstable, Kent, we are a group of 30 sweary stitchers, we make regular exhibitions of ourselves.
